Date: 05. November 2022
Time: 12:00 am - 5:00 pm
Bauska, Latvia
November 5th, at 12:00 and 15:00 in the Bauska Castle will be held workshop “Leather Money pouch”, during which you will be able to gain insight into the types and methods of making medieval money pouch, as well as gain basic skills in working with leather and making your own leather pouch.
Ever since ancient Egypt, money has been stored in a leather pouch, which at the same time served as a purse or even a bag, depending on its size. In medieval Europe, leather bags were used by both men and women and hung on their belts. Leather pouches were made of a round piece of leather, strung with a string, during the Renaissance they were already more sophisticated, more luxurious with several pockets and secret compartments, ornaments and beads. Historically leather products were made by a leather master.
The master class will be led by historical leather artefacts reenactor and craftsman Guna Zommere.
Everyone will be able to participate in the master class, both beginners and those with prior knowledge.
