Description: Žagarė Regional Park was established in 1992 with an aim to preserve the landscape, natural ecosystems of Švėtė valley and Žagarė Forest as well as cultural heritage of the region. There are several nature reserves in the regional park established for protection of rare plants and animals. Žagarė forest occupies the largest part of the Park. Žagarė Town is in the northern part of the Park territory. Bigger villages: Juodeikiai, Ziuriai. Forests occupy 53,3 % (3807 hectares) of the territory, agricultural land properties  - 22,4 % (1596 hectares), water - 0,4 % (28 hectares), marshlands - 8,1 % (582 hectares), villages and towns - 4,6 % (330 hectares), others - 11,2 % (797 hectares).
