The Daugavpils speech therapy boarding – basic school – the development centre educates 240 children. Here pupils can choose between special primary minority programmes: for students with language damages, for students with hearing damages and special primary programme for students with language damage. The school gives real opportunity for pupils integration in Latvian surrounding and makes it possible to save national culture and native language. There are 84 teachers and boarding teachers, also speech therapists, surd pedagogues, psychologist, a social pedagogue, medical group and technical staff. A lot of pedagogues have extra professions, they improve their professional qualification by visiting different courses, seminars, participating in international ad state projects, creative exhibitions of works. The main aim of the educational process: the correction of language and hearing according to the degree of damage, to the general development level, to the level of health in order to help students to get basic education, to continue studies, to integrate into Latvian society.
