CREATIVE WORKSHOPS “CRAFT CIRCLE”

LLI-539 "Craftsmanship as Tourism Product without Borders" (Tour de Crafts)

3-DAY NATIONAL COSTUMES AND MUSIC INSTRUMENTS CREATIVE WORKSHOPS FOR CRAFTSMEN, ARTISTS AND CREATORS!

 

On 8-10th of October, 2021 creative workshops of the production of national costumes details and musical instruments will be organized for local craftsmen, artists and creators at Upytė Craft Center (Ėriškių str. 16B, Upytė, Panevėžys district). These workshops will take place under implementation of the Interreg V-A Latvia – Lithuania Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2014–2020 project „Craftsmanship as Tourism Product without Borders (LLI-539 Tour de Crafts)“. Representatives from the project partner locations – Latgale, Preili, Balvi, Dobele (Latvia), Anykščiai and Panevėžys counties (Lithuania) are welcome at the creative workshops.

Dr. Gvidas Vilys, ethnomusicologist, doctor of humanities (arts), member of the Folk Artists’ Union, will present the national costume, its regional differences, from received auxiliary materials participants of the program will produce details of the national costume – ribbons and bands using various weaving techniques and methods during these creative workshops.

Arūnas Stankus, a teacher from Šiauliai music school Dainai, will present musical instruments, involve the creators in a process of producing musical instruments and making music with their created instruments. Participants of the program will produce “birbynėlė” from cane, clatter, rattle, Pentecost horn, panpipes from received blanks and they will learn to make music with the instruments made.
