Exploratory hike in Latvia

LLI-448 Development of Forest trail In Latvia and Lithuania and expanding the Baltic Coastal Hiking route in Lithuania (Hiking project)

Date: 05. September 2020 - 07. September 2020

Time: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

The total length of the Forest Trail in Lithuania and Latvia is approximately 1,030 km (380 km in Latvia, 650 km in Lithuania) and it will pass through the most picturesque areas (forests, mounds, swamps, etc.). The Forest Trail will be connected to the Forest Trail Riga – Tallinn (https://baltictrails.eu/en/forest).

A tourism expert will check the route and will travel on various forest paths that will lead through forests, fields, mounds, rivers path and so on.

On September 5-7 we invite everyone to join exploratory hikes!

September 5, Galciems – Tukums. Start: 10 p.m. Starting point – Galciems, Pūre parish, GPS: 56.993132, 22.942346, end point – Parking in Melnezera Str.and Pumpuru Str. crossroads, Tukums, GPS: 56.970899, 23.170534. It is planned to walk 21 km.

September 6, Tukums – Valgums. Start: 10 p.m. The starting point – Parking in Melnezera Str.and Pumpuru Str. crossroads, Tukums, GPS: 56.970899, 23.170534, the end point is Parking next to Kārniņu Cemetry (Jāņakrogs) GPS: 56,970574, 23,321958. It is planned to walk 16 km.

September 7, Valgums – Bigauņciems. Start: 10 p.m. Starting point – Parking next to Kārniņu Cemetry (Jāņakrogs) GPS: 56,970574, 23,321958, end point – Bigauņciems beach, Engure parish, GPS: 56.985483, 23.542661. It is planned to walk 26 km.

Be prepared for any weather conditions and have some snacks and drinks with You.

Important: You are welcome to join any part of the program. The day hikes are 20-25 km long and take about 6-8 hours each. There is no participation fee. We do not provide accommodation, food or transportation.
