LLI-49 project CATCH POLLUTION: Informational field days for farmers in Lithuania

Growing of catch crops has been recognised as one of the most efficient nutrient reduction measures and at the same time is useful for farmers as it allows to improve soil condition and reduce loss of nutrients. Unfortunately, due to lack of knowledge growing of catch crops still is not very popular among Latvian and Lithuanian farmers.

In order to encourage farmers to grow catch crops, demonstration fields are be established in Venta and Lielupė RBD . The project team invites all farmers to participate in informational field days which will be organised in October, 2017.

Field days in Lithuania will be held:

In the Lielupė River Basin District: 2017 October 19  Kultūros str. 1, Vaškai, Vaškų county, Pasvalys district.

In the Venta River Basin District 2017 October 20 Tilto str. 12, Viekšniai, Viekšnių county, Mažeikiai district.

 

During the informational field days farmers will be introduced with variety of catch crops, growing technologies and benefits of it.
