Tweed bike ride
On May 4, 2018, Kaleti municipality organizes the first Interreg V-A Latvia-Lithuania Cross Border Cooperation Programme’s 2014-2020, project No LLI-361, Capacity building and links strengthening between municipal administrations and local communities in order to improve living conditions and social life in rural areas of Kuliai (LT) and Kaleti (LV) (Sports activities) project event “Tweed bike ride”. Everyone is invited to meet at Kaleti Folk house at 12 p.m. The participants of the event have to think how to design their bike and choose appropriate clothing following the fashion trends / style of the 20ies and 30ies of the last century. The event is organized with the aim to promote cross-border co-operation between the communities of Kaleti (LV) and Kuliai (LT). During the event, people of both communities will have a leisurely 5 km long bike ride on small roads and will enjoy the magic of the nature. There will be stops to take photos. At around 2 p.m. it is planned to return to Kaleti Folk house where the participants will plant decorative shrubs. After a good work, the participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the performances of the students of Kaleti Music and Art School. Tweed bike ride will end with the White Tablecloth Celebration to mark the Restoration of independence of the Republic of Latvia. At 6 p.m. Ivars Seleckis’ documentary film “Continuation” will be shown at Kaleti Folk house.
