Festival “Castle day” took place in Raudondvaris Manor

04 November 2022

On October 28th and 29th the festival “Castle day” took place at Raudondvaris Manor.

On Saturday evening, as the sun was setting, the doors of the Raudondvaris manor stables opened and the ghosts spread through the park. Ephemeral silhouettes held lanterns and wandered among the old trees before turning to the castle, where they held a wild feast. The dance of the ghosts was accompanied by flames of fire until finally the ghosts of the Middle Ages disappeared in smoke. This is how the two-day “Castle Day” festival ended.

Raudondvaris manor director Snieguolė Navickienė said that the festival was organized together with colleagues from Latvia, Bauskės Castle. There were excursions, a craftsman’s fair, and during educations, it was possible to make a Baltic treasure chest and learn about artificial lighting elements in Renaissance castle. The “Galms” collective from Latvia taught historic dances. With the help of florist Marijus Gvildis, visitors created decorations from pumpkins, tree leaves and other natural materials. Children from Ukraine also joined this process. The group “Studija” and “Viduramžiai LT” fire show received a standing ovation from the audience.

On the first day of the festival, the jeweler Nijolė Jovarienė’s jewelry exhibition “Vieversynės giesmininkai” was opened in Raudondvaris Castle’s Barbora Art Gallery. The piano concert with the program of cinema soundtracks took place.

The festival was organized by project “Historic road: Raudondvaris-Bauskė (LLI-498)”.
