Let’s go in nature!

04 March 2021

While the school year has not yet begun, it was the right time to make new friends and spend free time actively. Therefore, for three days in August – from August 12 to August 14, 2019, there was a time for 20 teenagers from took part in activities with the name “Creative days – Let’s go in nature!”. They  took place in the guest house Bērzkalni.

Young people from Vecumnieki and Bauska met to work together, play sports and just have a good time. The first day was spent getting to know each other. During the creative workshops, a flag uniting all participants was created – each footprint left in a flower meadow. In the afternoon, everyone went for a hike to the right bank of the Mūsa river, where they spent active and fun time in Bauska Castle Mound.

The second day was a day of erudition and mind games, supplemented from time to time by sports activities. The young people got excited about solving various word puzzles and ingenious tasks of the quiz “My Latvia” about culture and sports in Latvia, as well as the history, nature, geography and science of our country.

The third day was filled with outdoor activities in Tērvete Nature Park. On the way back to Bauska, many admitted that they had run for three days without noticing and would like to experience something just as nice this year. Asked what they liked best about these three days, the young people admitted that they liked sports activities the most and, of course, Tērvete Nature Park. Asked about what he did not like, a young man admitted: “Duration. Seriously? 3 days! On the third day, everyone gets to know each other well, but it’s all over!” According to the creative team of educators, the biggest benefit was that the obvious – young people made friends with each other and, by the opportunity to participate in various activities, raised their self-confidence and self-esteem.
