LLI-296 Improvement of living conditions in cross border region by unlocking potential of deprived communities and territories (Unlocked potential)

Project aimed to improve living conditions and environment in deprived communities by equipping social spaces and increasing involvement into social activities and community life. To reach this goal, new social spaces were created in Biržai and Aizkraukle: Biržai has the new playground for children in the A. Dauguvietis park and the sport square with set of trainers (sport simulators) were established in 5 different places in Aizkraukle. 1 playground for children was established in Aizkraukle. All newly established places are actively used by local inhabitants. Playgrounds are constantly occupied by children. Adults and youngsters spend free time actively using outdoor trainers.

Educational activities and practical activities were carried out during the implementation period of this project. Joint activities, involving the communities of Biržai and Aizkraukle took place.

Birzai and Aizkraukle community members actively participated in all project events and activities. Training events aimed to forge a closer link between the communities, motivate and encourage the social involvement of the residents, emphasize physical activity benefits for human health, the impact of surrounding environment on human psychological comfort, prevention lectures for the youth.

Project LLI-296 Unlocked potential comes to the end

On 12, 13 and 14 of September 2019, association “SPARTIETIS” in cooperation with Aizkraukle municipality, and with the support of the funding of Interreg V-A Latvia – Lithuania Programme 2014-2020 project LLI-296 “Improvement of living conditions in cross border regions by unlocking potential of deprived communities and territories” held one of the most educational and entertaining cycles of sports and healthy lifestyle promotion seminars and practical lessons in Aizkraukle municipality. The seminar venue was the Aizkraukle Sports Centre. The participants of the theoretical seminars, workshops, and interactive activities were very responsive and happy to been given the opportunity to learn how to spend their time effectively and exercise using the possibilities provided by our city. They learned more about healthy nutrition and the way it is linked with active lifestyle, better physical condition, and feeling healthy in general. This objective, which includes a healthy and active lifestyle (and in result – a happy society), is undoubtedly the result that every municipality should be looking to achieve. It is a reachable goal that creates prosperity, pleasure, and happiness.

Similar seminars took place in Biržai as well. On September 18-19 and 24-26 seminars about healthy diet for different age people, necessity of physical activity and methodology to combine diet and sport activities according your own needs as well as ways to tackle and overcome stress, understand and hear the needs of other person were organized in Biržai.

On October 11 new playgrounds for children in Aizkraukle were opened. By this project Investment work package implementation was finished.

In November project LLI-296 will be officially closed during the final event in Aizkraukle.

New social spaces established in Birzai and Aizkraukle

On June 20, 2019 from the early morning, A. Dauguvietis park in Birzai was full of children, and young families. Expectation, willingness and smell of childhood filled the air – everybody waited for the official opening of the playgrounds.

And finally it happened! After official speeches of Birzai district municipality Deputy Mayor Astra Korsakiene and Mayor of Aizkraukle Leons Lidums celebration started – animators played together with children,  Mickey and Minnie organized photo session and fun with giant soap bubbles.

The following event will be organized in Latvia. Aizkraukle municipality already arranged outdoor trainers and now, after gaining new experience from Lead partner, will establish playgrounds for children. As delegation from Latvia took part in the family event/playground opening in Birzai, now Birzai team will go to see how outdoor trainers and playgrounds are used in Aizkraukle.

Playgrounds and outdoor trainers were arranged under the Interreg V-A Latvia – Lithuania Programme 2014-2020 project LLI-296 “Improvement of living conditions in cross border region by unlocking potential of deprived communities and territories”/“Unlocked potential”.

Contract for establishment of playgrounds for children in A. Dauguvietis park was signed

On October 10, 2018 Birzai district municipality administration and UAB CGS signed the contract for for establishment of playgrounds for children in A. Dauguvietis park.

22 pieces of equipment for children leisure will be installed untill June, 2019 at the latest. Total value of the contract – 66,8 thousand euro.

Establishment of playgrounds was discussed with Birzai citizens during the project opening event on August 21, 2018.

Project target is to improve living conditions and environment in deprived communities by equipping social spaces and increasing involvement into social activities and community life. To reach this goal, new social spaces will be created in Biržai and Aizkraukle: Biržai will have a new playground for children in the A. Dauguvietis park and a sport square with set of trainers will be established in Aizkraukle.

Overal Project budget: 177 839,95 EUR (including ERAF co-finance 151 163,96 EUR)

Project LLI-296 moves forward

On August 21, 2018 project was officially opened during the event in Biržai and now it strongly moves forward.

Aizkraukle (PP2) has already installed 64 new outdoor trainers in different places of the town and district. https://www.aizkraukle.lv/lv/2018/09/15/pilseta-jauni-trenazieri/

Birzai district  municipality (LP) has already made public procurement for installation of playgrounds for children in A. Dauguvietis park. Contract will be signed in the nearest future and works will be finalized in the May of 2019 at the latest.
