On the 25th August the Interreg V-A Latvia-Lithuania Programme 2014 – 2020 project – LLI-302, “Improvement of efficiency and availability of local public security services in cross border regions of Latvia and Lithuania” (Safe borderlands) had its final online conference.
Artūrs Penčura, project manager of the project’s lead partner – Zemgale Planning Region (ZPR), and Dārta Gātere, representative of SIA “AC Konsultācijas”, presented an overview of the project results at the online conference. A research carried out with the support of the project on the improvements of public security services in border areas, as well as the developed Action Plan for the improvement of legislation and practical activities was presented. The mentioned Action Plan has become the basis for concluding bilateral cooperation agreements between the municipalities of Aknīste and Rokiškis, Vecumnieki and Biržai, Tērvete and Joniškis.
Representatives of local Fire and Rescue Services, state and municipal police, border guards and other related services participated in the conference together with project partners from Aknīste, Vecumnieki and Tērvete municipalities in Zemgale and from Biržai and Rokiškis districts in Lithuania.
