Partners from Latvia and Lithuania worked together in the project to ensure sustainability and availability of manor parks for present and future generations. The project supported development of diverse, attractive cross-border tourism offer and promoted preservation of cultural heritage on both sides of the border.

The overall objective was to promote sustainability of cultural heritage sites and to increase their attractiveness for visitors.

Project activities included improvement of 4 manor parks in Eleja, Koknese, Rokiskis and Pakruojis, the development of 3 new tourist routes, trainings for 100 tourism professionals and 50 park maintainers, experience exchange visits to partners` territories and visits of foreign journalists. Each partner organized promotional events, like “Winter Solstice” in Eleja Manor park, “Souls Evening” in Koknese Park, “Christmas Light” in Rokiškis, and “Visiting Miller“ in Pakruojis, aimed at involving a wider audience. To promote renewed parks, partners participated in 2 tourism fairs – Balttour (in Rīga) and Vivatour (in Vilnius).

As a result of the project, parks` infrastructure was improved, common products for visitors were offered and knowledge of tourism professionals and park maintainers improved. Cross-border tourism offer were promoted in Zemgale region in Latvia, and Panevežio and Siauliai regions in Lithuania.

Study visit of Lithuanian partners to Latvian castles and manors parks

Project partners and stakeholders’ representatives from Lithuania visited Latvian partners’ sites and other manors and castles’ parks in Semigalia region on 29-30 May 2019. During 2 days, Lithuanian partners visited not only project partners – Eleja and Koknese – parks, but also Garsene, Krustpils, Bauska, Rundale, Lielplatone manors and castles’ parks as well. Visited sites shared their experience in parks’ maintenance and exploitation. Experience gained during the study visit has a great value not only to the project partners but also to other similar sites in Lithuania and we are excited to be able to share this experience with other stakeholders in the future.

Study visit of Latvian partners to Lithuanian Castle and Manor parks

Two days study visit took place on 22-23 May. During the visit following manors were visited in Lithuania: Žagare, Baisogalos, Burbiškio, Pakruojis, Karpių, Astravo, Rokiškis, Ilzenbergas.

3rd Project Monitoring Committee and Project Implementation Group took place in Koknese

3rd Project Monitoring Committee and Project Implementation Group took place in Koknese on 26th March, 2019. All partners gather in the premises of Koknese Tourism information centre and reported their achievements in the 2nd reporting period and discussed information about activities in the next periods. In the end of the meeting partners visited Koknese Manor park, where project activities will take place.

2nd Project Monitoring Committee and Project Implementation Group took place in Pakruojis on 9th October, 2018. All partners gather in the renovated premises of Pakruojis Sinagogue and reported their achievements in the 1st reporting period and discussed information about activities in the next periods. In the end of the meeting partners visited Pakruojis Manor park, where project activities will take place.
