LLI-542 Development of IT programming and robotics competences in schools at the cross border regions of Latgale and Ezeru Krastas (RoboNet)

This project will develop new and innovative approaches to better knowledge and future perspectives of pupils in Latgale and Ezeru Krastas cross border area of Latvia and Lithuania, in particular by using STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education model as a tool of networking and integration by increasing of training capacities and competences of human resources in IT programming and robotics in 14 schools (9 schools in Latgale region – Daugavpils State Gymnasium, Saskaņas primary school in Daugavpils, Livani 1. Secondary school, Ludza State Gymnasium, Balvi State Gymnasium, Preili State Gymnasium, Viļaka State Gymnasium, Rugāji Secondary School and Spogi Secondary school, Latvia and 5 schools in Lithuania – Ignalina Česlovas Kudaba Progymnasium, Visagino Atgimimo gymnasium, Gerosios Vilties School, Visagino Verdenės gimnazija and Dusetų Kazimiero Būgos gimnazija). 30 teachers of schools will be trained, literacy and material grounds in IT and robotics will be improved in all 14 schools thus increasing capacities in providing STEM education. During the project 420 pupils will start robotics interest education courses. In order to create and strengthen network of schools in providing STEM education model 2 conferences and 3 competitions in IT programming and robotics will be organised both sides of the border, best pupils will form teams which will take part in Robotex 2020 and 2021 international competitions in Tallin, Estonia.

Partners structure
STEM education model introduced in 14 regional schools, established international network of schools, municipalities and NGOs actively participating and promoting STEM model education, teachers from 14 schools of Programme area increased competences in IT and robotics, pupils of Programme area schools actively participate in robotics interest education groups, equipment and literacy for robotics interest education courses purchased for 14 schools in programme area.
By promoting and implementing STEM education model in Programme area schools public service of education is strongly improved, which will form bases for competences high skilled labor in future for productive sector companies of the border regions.
