In December, 2018, project No. LLI-416 LOCAL FOODS partners- farmers from Zarasai and Kraslava had participated in experience exchange visit to Poland and Austria.
In order to understand how modern local production works, people have to try it themselves. Therefore practical meat processing training for local producers was organised at the successful producer’s sites in different countries – Poland and Austria.
During the visit, project partners has been presented with the good experiences of meat production in both countries – Poland (2 days) and Austria (2 days). Participants of the study visit have visited 5 slaughterhouses and meat production units and had practical training (no training materials used ) there, also had meetings with the unions of farmers in Poland and Austria, had visited farmer shops in both countries. All the participants of the training agreed that the training was very useful and motivated them to develop their meat production in order to be able sell it directly to the customer.
The most attention was paid to meat production equipment, that was very helpfull in the production process, also meat production technologies, that could be applied in Lithuania and Latvia.
