14 June 2019

Theoretical training for mobile teams members of social services who will provide or already provide home care services was organized in Utena and Moletai, Lithuania, with a specific training session theme in each location. During the project, between May 28 and June 7, 2019, as in the training part in Latvia, 40 caregivers and social workers participated, who will continue to work in the municipal social service mobile teams. The topics of this trainings was “The Concept, Nature and Diversity of the Care Process”, “Death and Dying, Professional Ethics”.

During the trainings in Moletai theoretical and practical knowledge to mobile teams practitioners was provided on the concept of death, the process of dying, euthanasia, ethical issues, as well as communication problems, communication psychology, and the fight against burnout syndrome.

In Utena, the specialists discussed with the expert the concept of the care process, the types of care, the importance of the mobile team and the responsibility of the specialists, as well as the assessment and identification of the needs of the elderly, organizing assistance and working with their families.

Together, the project has conducted 4 theoretical training sessions on various topics relevant to the provision of home care services, specifically to enhance caregiver knowledge and raise awareness of the issue of elderly single seniors’ socialization.

To each of the training topics was devoted 4 days. The training has also resulted in the establishment of a Latvian-Lithuanian mobile team specialist network on the Facebook social network to improve the exchange of information and good practices. During the training, various practical assignments, training materials and photos were published in this network group.

As a result of the project training, 40 mobile brigade specialists gained theoretical knowledge on training topics, practical knowledge on self-help activities, gained new experience among specialists from different countries, and gained new professional contacts.
