Latgale Region Development Agency as one of the project’s LLI-402 “risk-free” partners has coordinated the improvement and/or creation of sports infrastructure in 13 municipalities in Latgale region. The aim of this action is to ensure accessibility to organized sports activities to vulnerable groups, especially at-risk children and youth, thus contributing to creating and promoting street sports culture in Latgale region that will serve as an instrument for social inclusion.
During the project implementation process, different sports equipment and infrastructure were installed and delivered to municipalities in Latgale. In Daugavpils municipality’s villages Svente, Krauja, Kalupe, Silene and Višķi sports fields with fitness equipment, suitable for different exercises, were created. In three districts of Daugavpils City municipality multifunctional outdoor training equipment was installed, which allows users to effectively strengthen and stretch all of the large muscle groups. Also, an electronic scoreboard was installed in Daugavpils State Gymnasium intended for various sports games.
Until the end of the project, sports fields will be created and outdoor training equipment delivered and installed in Balvi, Līvāni, Preiļi, Riebiņi, and Rugāji municipality. In Viļāni municipality not only outdoor exercise equipment was installed, but also a new parkour training area was created for practicing this relatively new, but the increasingly popular training discipline.
In the framework of the project sports infrastructure for training in alternative sports disciplines were created – in Ludza and Krāslava municipality high-quality skate parks were constructed, but in Riebiņi municipality roller-skating ramp was installed.
Moreover, sports equipment for such sports as basketball, football, streetball, volleyball, floorball, and other sports was provided to Aglona, Preiļi, Viļaka, Rugāji and Baltinava municipality. Sports equipment obtained and infrastructure created in the framework of the project LLI-402 will promote physical and sports activities and make these activities more accessible to children and youth in Latgale region, including at-risk groups, thus ensuring their social inclusion through sport.
