Sports infrastructure is being expanded in Pakruojis city stadium

16 June 2021

In mid-June work began in Pakruojis city stadium. Therefore, no one should be surprised to see heavy equipment in the stadium, not just athletes. The contractors started the repair works of a skate/roller/BMX park site where a new base and new asphalt cover will be installed.

The total planned area of the site is 950 sq. m. Repair works of the site are performed by Joint stock company “Kelių priežiūra”, which won the public procurement. The value of the repair works is 28,8 thousand of Euros. Repair works of the site will be finished by the end of July 2021. Pakruojis District Municipality Administration plans to purchase the necessary site equipment (ramps, skating tubes, benches) until the end of September 2021.

Condition of the site before the project. June 2019.

Repair works of the skate park site began. June 2021.

Works and acquisition of equipment are financed by project No. LLI-524 “Booster for ReStart in Pakruojis and Iecava municipalities“ (Booster for ReStart) (hereinafter referred to as the project).

Pakruojis District Municipality Administration is thankful to Joint stock company “Dolomitas”, which agreed to contribute to the project and allocated 300 tons of crushed dolomite stone for the site base.

In addition to the skate park, Pakruojis city stadium also will be equipped with a street workout equipment and two concrete outdoor tennis and table football tables by the end of this summer. Pakruojis District Municipality Administration expects that the new space created in the city stadium will attract more non-professional athletes and encourage both young and older residents to lead an active and healthy lifestyle.

The project is implemented with a partner – Iecava Municipality Administration, financed from the European Regional Development Fund, the Republic of Lithuania state and Pakruojis District Municipality budgets. The project is implemented in accordance with Interreg V-A Latvia–Lithuania Cross Border Cooperation Programme 2014–2020.
