12 participants from Project partners organizations visited the Delta Sensory garden (Ireland) on 9 -12 of May, 2022. The aim of the study visit was to get knowledges about the professional process of Sensory Garden therapy.

The Delta Sensory gardens are set on 2.5 acres of land with 16 interconnecting, themed areas which are accessible for people of all abilities. The Sensory Gardens were created as a therapeutic outlet for those attending the service. The gardens are part of Delta Centre which was established in 1990 as a Centre for adults with disabilities. Delta Sensory Gardens took 6 years to complete and were officially opened to public in 2007 as the first of their kind in Ireland. Delta Sensory gardens are made up of different themed gardens like Patio garden, Games garden, Sculpture garden, Peace garden, Willow garden, Mediterranean garden, Formal Rose garden etc. All gardens were presented to Study visit participants on first day of the Study visit. All Delta Sensory Gardens are very safe for visitors with special needs. Different tactile surfaces are used in the gardens, including timber, steel, stone, marble and glass. Visitors can sit and inhale the relaxing scent of nacreous and lavender planted at two levels. Lots of vegetables, fruits and herbs are available to taste. In some gardens are installed impressive carved limestone tables and benches. That provide the perfect setting for playing giant size Jenga. All sculptures in the garden are unique and can be touched by visitors.
On the next day of study visit all participants visited Delta Centre which was established for adults with disabilities. Delta Centre provides training, residential, respite, day and multi-sensory services to adults with learning disabilities. The Adult Day Services  Centre provides day activities, access to supported employment and voluntary work programmes for people, age 18 and over. There are programmes to assist people with making choices and planning how to be an active, independent member of the community. Rehabilitative Training is intended to help participants progress to greater levels of independence and integration in their community. Activities include volunteer work, supported employment, courses of interest to them, using leisure facilities, gyms etc. The aim is that in the future this group will become full members of a community in Carlow town. There were presented Delta Centre residential and respite services for the study visit participants as well.
