08 April 2024

On June 30, 2023, Pakruojis District Municipality Administration, together with its partner, Bauska Municipality, “closed” the final page of project No. LLI-524 “Booster for ReStart in Pakruojis and Iecava municipalities” (Booster for ReStart) – on that day the project activities were officially completed.

During the project implementation, 2 skateboard/roller/BMX parks were installed in Pakruojis and Iecava, Pakruojis stadium was equipped with outdoor tennis, football tables and street workout equipment.

In order to achieve the goal of the project – to activate young people in in Pakruojis and Iecava municipalities, attention was devoted not only to the renovation of sports and leisure infrastructure but also to the organization of activities aimed at promoting active participation. Therefore, 6 different sports competitions (night basketball tournament, night extreme sport match, local and international sport competitions) were held in Pakruojis and Iecava. Each of partners organized one sports summer camp for children and youth. A total of 313 children and young people from the municipalities of Pakruojis and Bauska participated in these activities. During the competitions and camps, the participants not only improved their physical condition, competed in various disciplines, acquired knowledge of a healthy lifestyle, safe behavior, improved their foreign language skills, but also developed social competencies, including the ability to communicate effectively with others, improve interpersonal relationships, participate in discussions and work in a team.

During the implementation of the project, cross-border experience in activating young people through active leisure, physical and sports activities was also shared – representatives of non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, Pakruojis and Bauska Municipalities  participated in four experience exchage visits in Iecava, Bauska, Pakruojis and Kelmė district. The goal of these visits was to get acquainted with the sports, education and other public infrastructure established in the municipalities, to share experiences, and understand the challenges faced both in carrying out infrastructure renovation works and in organizing activities to promote residents’ engagement, physical activity, and educational processes.

Organized 4 experience exchange visits in Iecava, Bauska, Pakruojis and Kelmė district

After the experience exchange visits, during which we got to know many new faces, explored previously unseen places, and had conversations with over a dozen experts in our field, we can confirm – what we are doing as well in order to create a more attractive, interesting, and diverse environment for our district’s residents and visitors, is being done correctly! We truly hope that communities, institutions, organizations, or simply any resident will become more actively involved in the process of generating ideas – when desires, wishes, and ideas unites a group of people, we can be assured that the created results will not be just “an ordinary collection of dust on the shelf”, but will be loved, cherished and used. Let’s be “boosters” of each other’s positive thoughts and emotions!”, shared impressions after the visits Lina Mikolaitytė, Deputy Head of Strategic Development and Construction Division of Pakruojis District Municipality Administration (Project manager). “Once again, for the umpteenth time, we have already made sure that only the joint work and sincere dedication of specialists who know their field lead to success – maybe that success is not achieved via the nearest route, you have to cross a lot of swamps, take detours, but nothing is impossible – everything lies within the hands of those who do. And, of course, they do it, because they believe in the idea and the team”.
