From the 28th of August to 1st of September, 2017, Liepaja Marine College together with Lithuanian Maritime Academy organized joint trainings for a group of teachers from both partner institutions at Flanders Port Training Center (APEC) in Antwerp, Belgium, which took place within the framework of the project “Improvement of the workforce mobility and skills in Latvian-Lithuanian Maritime Transport Sector” (LatLitNaviPort).
15 representatives of the two partnering institutions from Lithuania and Latvia had the opportunity to update and improve their knowledge and competences in Port Logistics and Container Terminal Management, on such topics as Master planning (theory), Supply chain: European Logistics, Intermodal connections: truck – rail – barge and others. Thematic field trips were also organized. Latvian and Lithuanian specialists had the opportunity to visit the Port of Antwerp, including a field trip to the Sea Port and Bulk Terminal, DP-world terminal and Combinant (tri-modal terminal).
For the academic representatives of both institutions this was a great chance to acquire modern, advanced industry related experience, as well as get to know the latest developments of the logistics sector to later apply the gained knowledge working in their home educational institutions, to use it for the project matters and for further development and enhancement of studies and practical training.
