The main goal of the project is to increase the competences of human resources in the field of IT programming and robotics in the cross-border region of Latgale, Visaginas and Ignalina. One of the main tasks to be carried out within the framework of the project was the strengthening of the material base in the 14 general education schools of the project partner municipalities in Latgale (Daugavpils State Gymnasium, Daugavpils Saskaņa Primary School, Livani 1. Secondary School, Ludza City Gymnasium, Balvi State Gymnasium, Preili State Gymnasium, Vilaka State Gymnasium) and Lithuania (Ignalina Česlovas Kudaba Progymnasium, Visagino Atgimimo gymnasium, Gerosios Vilties School, Visagino Verdenes gimnazija, Dusetu Kazimiero Būgos gimnazija).
As part of the project, in the second half of year 2022, 9 general education schools in Latgale were supplied with equipment sets, which included a total of 54 LEGO Education SPIKE Prime sets, 54 LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Expansion sets, 19 Lego Sumo rings, 31 mini sumo robots SumoBoy 2.0 with prototyping set, 46 soldering stations, 16 laptops, 20 tablets for robot control and 9 3-D printers. Each school received a different set of equipment that best corresponded to the level of the school’s material and technical base and the desire to improve it. The delivered equipment was used in the schools both in the implementation of the project and will be used in the future in the general education process, thus increasing the level of competence of the schools in teaching programming and robotics subjects to students, strengthening the capacity for the implementation of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines) education model in the project schools.
The Latgale Region Development Agency, as the leading partner of the project, in cooperation with the schools involved in the project, ensured the development of technical specifications, the organization of procurement procedures, the conclusion of contracts and coordinated the planned equipment deliveries in accordance with the signed contracts.
