The Programme will participate in Balts’ Unity Day 2017 celebration

16 May 2017

This year’s Balts’ Unity Day will be celebrated on 23 September in Palanga, Lituania. The preparations for the Balts’ Unity day are accelerating, and yesterday representatives of the Programme attended organisers’ meeting in Palanga initiated by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Latvia. A rich variety of cultural and entertainment activities with participants from both, Latvia and Lithuania, are planned.  This year the Programme is going to organise a cross border cycle race from Nidasciems (Latvia) to Palanga (Lithuania). In it’s turn the project “Balts’ Road” that is financed by the Programme plans to arrange scientific conference on cultural tourism in both countries, and to support organising of the Gala concert of well-known artists of both countries.

More information on Balts’ Unity Day and planned cycle race will follow as the event date will come closer.

Already a traditional Balts’ Unity Day is an annual event celebrated to commemorate the battle of the Sun of 22 September 1236 when Lithuanians and Semigallians defeated Livonian Brothers of the Sword. In the previous years, the Balts’ Unity Day was celebrated in Liepaja, Rokiškis, Rucava, Šiauliai and Bauska.
