The specific studios for the needs of mentally ill persons have been created in Rokiškis Psychiatric Hospitals

23 November 2020

Rokiškis Psychiatric Hospitals completed the infrastructure works within the framework of the project LLI-368 “The Creation and Practical Application of Social Inclusion Measures for Persons with Mental Disorders in the Cross Border Region, by using the Experience of Daugavpils and Rokiškis Psychiatric Hospitals” (ReSocialization).

The project aim is to increase the availability and efficiency of social inclusion measures to patients in order to contribute to the improvement of socialization process.

To achieve this goal, Rokiškis Psychiatric Hospital has performed the renovation of two unused premises in the basement of the hospital, and their further adaptation to the ceramic studio and wood work/wicker weaving workshop. The renovated area of the first premises was 248 m2 and 218.72 m2 of the second one.

In the premises was carried out the simple repair and general decoration work: repaired water supply, sewage, heating, ventilation systems, and installed the sanitary facilities. The electrical, fire, safety and security systems were installed from the hospital private funds.

Both premises have some specific differences from each other. The working tools, modeling clay space and room for a ceramic oven were installed in the ceramic studio; from the other hand, working tools and wood and wicker storage room were installed in the wood work/wicker weaving workshop.

All premises meet the hygiene, fire safety and the specific safety requirements for mentally ill persons.
