To gain a deeper understanding of how karst sinkholes form in Skaistkalne parish, Vecumnieku county organizes exploratory hike and visit to the most popular karst sinkholes in Skaistkalne Parish accompanied by a knowledgeable guide on October 21, 2021.
During the event, participants will be provided with theoretical knowledge and visual information of the karst process (rock samples, samples of finished products, etc.).
During the hike, various cognitive games and tasks will be played – participants will have the opportunity to put together puzzles with different types of karst sinkholes, groups conduct research to determine the deepest, largest, most picturesque karst sinkholes.
One of the activities will be a gypsum workshop to get to know the physical properties of gypsum better.
