Description: Klaipėda University started its academic activities with three faculties (those of Marine Engineering, Pedagogy, and Humanities and Natural Sciences) and about 3,000 students. It celebrated its 25th anniversary with 4,500 students in the Faculties of Marine Engineering and Natural Sciences, Humanities and Education Sciences, Social and Health Sciences, as well as in the Arts Academy. The University have a huge experience in International and National projects in various areas. The members of LP team have successfully finished 2 research and study projects in the LATLIT programme: Development of Joint Research and Training Centre in High Technology Area LLII-061 (2012 – Best Leader Partner Nomination of LATLIT programme JTS) and JRTC expansion of distributed real-time signal processing and control systems area LLIV-215 (submitted to EU RegioStars 2013 Awards and 2014 – Best Innovative Project Nomination of LATLIT programme JTS). During these projects, a thematic laboratory was developed in Klaipeda, with a potential to include other research areas into the knowledge based system of the developed virtual JRTC (Joint Research and Training Centre). Development of new services for the care homes is a continuation of the JRTC competences. Relevant services development experience was gained by the research group and KU by participating in National Priority project: Development of new wireless and mobile services “MOBAS” and etc.
