Ludza Town Library (Latvia) is so active, that sometimes it seems that if it had larger premises, it could become a regional multifunctional educational and free time centre.
Project OPEN UP is one year old, but during this year Ludza librarians have achieved very much: new equipment was purchased, the librarians took part in various trainings. Now they organise different activities for children. Every Wednesday there is an attractive and investigating OPEN LESSON.
But there are also very specific lessons – there is a small group of boys learning how to make videos.
Under guidance of a professional – Kristaps Kalabanovs – they are working with the video equipment that was purchased for this purpose.
Theses video lessons are only a small part of a cooperation project, realised by three partners – Ludza Municipality (LV), Rokišķis District Municipal Library (LT) and Jēkabpils City Municipality (LV).
The partners were awarded financing of the European Union that was allocated by the Interreg V-A Latvia-Lithuania Programme 2014-2020 to the project “Interactive educational space – efficient way of social integration of children from disadvantaged families” (OPEN UP).
Total project size is 176,680.75 EUR. Out of them co-funding of European Regional Development Fund is 150,178.64 EUR.
