LLI-474 Living by the rivers: development of tourism products based on ancient and modern history in Baltic countries (LivingRivers)

Conference is held due to the 2014-2020 Interreg V-A Latvia-Lithuania CrossBorder Cooperation Programme project “Living Rivers: developing tourismproducts based on the past and present history of the Baltic States” (LivingRivers, Nr. LLI-474).
It is the final event of international project “Living Rivers“. In this conference Lithuanian and international speakers will present riverside developmentprojects and visions implemented in Lithuania, Latvia, Belgium, France, Spain,Denmark and USA.  During the presentations participants will be introduced with experience of different countries in revitalising riversides, making water andwater-related activities more accessible and popular with local residents as wellas incoming tourists.
Participants will be able to explore a unique example of sustainable watertourism in Lithuania – the ship of culture “Nemuno7“. Due to environmental protection reasons the dredger can be no longer used to deepen the riverbedof the Nemunas river and is reborn as a tourist attraction and a venue forcultural events. It is a multifunctional space, offering visitors the opportunity notonly to learn about the historical context, but also to experience new forms ofart, creativity and culture.
Participants and speakers of the conference include interested institutions,organisations, municipal professionals and tourism service providers.

International conference on RIVERSIDE DEVELOPMENT IMPLICATIONS FORREGIONAL TOURISM has been organised and all paper and electronicdocuments related to this project activity have been produced with the financial support of the European Union.

Project No. LLI-474 “Living Rivers: developing tourism products based on the pastand present history of the Baltic States” (Living Rivers) is implemented under the2014–2020 Interreg V-A Latvia-Lithuania Cross Border Cooperation Programme.
Project budget is EUR 590 149.67, of which EUR 501 627.21 (85%) is financed bythe European Regional Development Fund.
Project implementation period: from 1 January 2021 to 30 June 2023.
